Research

Research at the institute concerns three areas of health problems for patients viewed in a social context:

- Persons with long-term mental illness and functional disabilities

- Elderly, their health care, nursing care and social service

- Persons with long-term illness and functional disabilities

The research proceeds from the situation and experiences of the individual. The research takes its point of departure in the situation of the groups concerned and their experience of health care, nursing care and social service, how it functions for them and its organizations.

The research is also intended to shed light on the meaning of various concepts and phenomena commonly occurring in health care, such as well-being, quality of health care, and adaptation. Other research questions on which the Institute focuses concern management and management processes, the effects of changes, and the costs and results of care.
